Project Overview
This was a solo passion project of mine were I wanted to create a stealth game to make levels for!
The game is honestly pretty rough. It lacks animations, VFX and any sound at all. The combat system is very basic, but was enough for me to start making a level around it.
The game has a rage mechanic tied to the narrative. By being violent you gain rage, which increases your damage dealt, but if you don't calm down before it is too late, the werewolf curse consumes you and you lose your mind.
I intended for this level to be prototype and tutorail level, introducing the game mechanics one by one.
To guide the player through the level, I made sure that the castle the player was heading towards was clearly visible from the start and throughout the jounrey. I then also used "denial and reward",
temporarily hiding the castle and later revealing it from a new angle to the player.
The player also gets views of the starting village twice to show the progress they are making.
For the encounter areas, I made sure that the player could see the area and enemies beforehand and providing vantage points. Since the stealth and action playstyles are both valid, the vantage points were optional.
To pace the level I used encounters, platforming and scenic views to mix up the experience throughout the journey.
The entire game was made by myself, using blueprints and existing art assets to build this prototype. I used moodboards for visual references and had a small lore document. I also created spotify playlists to moodboard the music.
